GREEN, Ohio — After years of changes and relocation, a historic 1890s schoolhouse in Green is finally starting a new chapter.
This historic building has served many purposes over the years. First, it was the East Liberty School, then it was used for auto storage, and in 1956, it became Nicholas Square Furniture Store.
From housing children to cars and furniture, the building will now offer something new: a restaurant called The Industry.
New use coming to East Liberty Schoolhouse

GREEN — The 1890 one-room East Liberty Schoolhouse on South Arlington Road near state Route 619 will soon have new life as The Industry Restaurant prepares to open in the building in late March or early April.
In 2015, much discussion took place among Green City Council members and the community about what should become of the schoolhouse after Circle K purchased the property where the schoolhouse sat and planned to construct a new gas station. Council agreed to move the schoolhouse approximately 500 feet north at a cost of approximately $250,000. The move was a complex and slow process to ensure the building remained intact.
